The Amici Vecchi Rescue landing page was developed in preparation for the SkillsUSA State Competition, marking an early milestone in my web development journey. It features a straightforward, mission-driven layout that centers on the organization’s commitment to senior dogs. As a developer with a stronger aptitude for coding than design, I prioritized technical proficiency over aesthetic elements, resulting in a streamlined single-page site.

Core Web Technologies

Built using HTML and CSS, this project focused on mastering foundational coding techniques, particularly the CSS Flexbox property, to create a clean and functional layout. By leveraging Flexbox, I ensured a responsive and structured layout that effectively communicates the organization’s mission, even with minimal design embellishments.

Responsive UX and Layout

The responsive design of the Amici Vecchi Rescue landing page was crafted to ensure a consistent user experience across devices. For smaller screens, like tablets and mobile devices, the design adapts by adjusting image sizes and text flow to prevent content clipping, ensuring that key statistics—such as the impact of donations—remain prominent and easy to read without excessive scrolling. On larger screens, such as laptops, the layout maintains generous padding and a balanced alignment of text and images, creating an open, welcome feel that reflects the organization’s compassionate ethos.

Optimized Code and Structure

The final product showcases a streamlined yet effective landing page that prioritizes content clarity over decorative embellishments, aligning with my early focus on technical proficiency. The use of CSS transitions ensures smooth visual shifts during device resizing, such as subtle scaling of the hero section’s background to maintain focus on the senior dog imagery. This technical efficiency, paired with a lightweight codebase, results in fast load times, enhancing user engagement for visitors exploring Amici Vecchi Rescue’s adoption and support initiatives.

Beyond responsiveness, the landing page’s final design emphasizes structural integrity, with a semantic HTML framework that supports screen readers and keyboard navigation, reinforcing accessibility for all users. The careful placement of content blocks, such as the organization’s numerical impact stats, ensures they remain visually cohesive across breakpoints, fostering an intuitive navigation experience. This project, though simple in its aesthetic scope, demonstrates my ability to deliver a functional, responsive, and problem-solving digital solution that effectively advocates for senior dog welfare.
