The Healing Kitchen website was developed as part of the SkillsUSA National Competition, a prestigious event designed to simulate real-world client interactions. Working in a two-person team, I served as the developer, while my partner took on the role of designer. Together, we were tasked with creating a fully functional website within an 8-hour timeframe, utilizing a client brief that included unoptimized images, content snippets, and other resources. To ensure alignment with the client’s vision, we conducted a detailed consultation to clarify their goals and expectations for the website.

The site’s design philosophy emphasizes accessibility and user engagement, with a warm, inviting color palette inspired by natural elements—greens for growth, earth tones for authenticity—and typography that balances readability with a modern, approachable feel. Calls to action, like “Join our tribe today to help make a difference in your hometown,” encourage visitors to connect through potential sign-up forms or links, driving real-world participation in Healing Kitchen’s initiatives.
